'88 80 Battery Questions

Okay....Audi gods strike me yet again.  Battery is going out in my '88 
80.  Now the question is what battery type and size do I need?  The 
current one has no info on it except the manufacturer's name.  I found a 
type 41 - 510 CCAmp battery.  Is this right, to powerful, underpowered?  
Once again a complete lack of knowledge is killing my ability to repair 
my vehicle.
