re: Steering Rack Rebuild
Scott Mockry's page http://www.teleport.com/~scottmo/index.html does not
have info on the rack job, but Chris Miller's
http://members.aol.com/c1j1miller/index.html does. There are several
postings with lots of good tips.
I just ordered my rebuilt rack from Jorgen (800) 333-0600 for $185 + $22
shipping. There is a core charge of $150, but the $22 shipping cost
includes a return to sender coupon, so all that you have to do is put your
hosed rack in the box and call UPS for a pick up. I was contemplating
doing the seal job myself, but later came to my senses and bought the
rebuild. I should get it by Friday so I can look forward to a fun filled
weekend.
Thanks to Dave Conner for his guidance.

I haven't been watching this thread close enough so have a couple
questions.
Where do you get the ZF rebuilt racks and for what cost? The rebuilt I
have
on my 5kcst is going after about 70k miles the original went 150k. Where
do
I find Scott Mockry's page? The mechanic that replaced my rack, not an
Audi
mechanic, said it was the most difficult rack he had ever replaced.
