They do seem to have a seat-of-the-pants pricing method: mine was $175
plus $125 core, and I think shipping was $16. I did mention the quattro
E-mail list, and then he asked me if I'd been quoted a price from it. I
hadn't, but he did give it to me for $175 + $125 core, and I imagine
they would give that same price to others if you asked for it in
connection with the quattro list.
Regardless, it's cheap.
Be aware that your core charge might not be refunded until about six
weeks later; that's when I got a check in the mail.
Yes, you can say you're a mechanic and get a discount (about $20, they
told me on the phone). They'll transfer you to the billing department
and spend a minute setting up your account. I didn't choose to go that
route.
