Alex,
I have a 1989 non-turbo and it does for sure have an after run fan. Operated
by a small thermoswitch, mounted at the top end of the the cylinder/injector
bank.

That aside, I must admit that I looked more than once on a very nicely
"upped" Trabant when I was in Poland in 1991. Those cars are the essence of
indestructable!
