stumbling 200q20v

Ok, bad things a-happin'in.  After my commute 30 miles into Boston, I got
into stop and go traffic; the car started acting funny in 2nd gear, around
2k RPM, heasitating slightly.  Then, when I stopped at the parking lot to
get my ticket, the car was idling -very- rough...lots of vibration.

The car is going in on tuesday to have the thermostat replaced; think this
is causing the stumbling/unhappiness?  I'm wondering if part of the engine
is overheating.  Gauges, oil and coolant, are low/normal.

What the?  About the only unusual thing I did was fill up the car to full
this morning before I left(snow storm approaching, and I was down to a 1/4
tank.)
