re: First Snow Drive
<<Well today was the first time our A4 30V hit the snow... it handled
pretty
nicely with the stock SP 8000s. My dad was having fun in a LONG left
hand
turn where he hit the gas while turning and sent the car into a easily
controlled four wheel drift.with me as the passeger this was quite
interesting. only close call of the day was about 400 feet from home.
making
the turn from the main road to our street.. dad got a little heavy on
the
brakes and we almost slid into the sidewalk(ooh that would have hurt).
at
the last second the tires hooked up and spun the car about 45 degrees.
My
question is could that have been avoided by disabling ABS(like my dad's
'89
100CSQ had)???>>
No, but it could have been avoided by using proper tires. SP8000's are
GREAT TIRES, but for your own sake (and those around you) at least use
all seasons in the snow! I've made no better investment than a set of
extra wheels with real snow tires.
