Frozen Window
all right -- whoever wired Audis in the mid-late 80's should be forced to
drive an 87 5KCSTQ with all 4 windows stuck down in -50 degree weather!
Audi is the front-runner in AWD technology and the Quattro system is
amazing -- but sometimes my enthusiasm for my Quattros is off-set by the
little electrical gremlins who run laughing through the wires in my cars..
This time? The driver's side window frozen in mid-roll down! It made a
nice grinding noise before it failed -- then, it failed. and it was damn
cold.
I attempted to pull the inside of the door apart to see if I could shake it
free because the windows lifter motor was still drawing power when I hit
the switch. Plus, it just looked stuck..
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? After I unscrewed a screw or 2 I
remembered the hell I experience when I took the door apart on my 4KSQ.
What a nightmare. Plus, I realized that I was undoing one of my favorite
parts of the 5KCSTQ interior -- and I just didn't feel comfortable f-ing
with it too much. So, I dropped it off at the shop.. it had a few other
'issues' anywayz.
Still, I'd love to know what went wrong
TIA,
Richard
