Anybody do airbox mods on a A4 2.8 12V?

I was a guinea pig and tried it.  Ninety one 1/4"
drill holes on the lateral and anterior portion of
the airbox bottom.  Result?...alot of intake noise.
I have this feeling that it is a bit more responsive
once the revs get up.  Kinda hard to tell with all 
that ruckus.  My 1.8T friend helped me...when I started
up the car after we were done his eyes opened real
wide...I could tell from his face that the new 
noise was very noticable.  Oh well.  Called Clair
and got a quote at $105 for the replacement...may just
just duct tape instead...nothing ventured...nothing
gained.
