RE: htr blower motor question

Chris,

I too had a similar problem with my blower motor, although mine was more
like birds chirping when it was running. Is the clicking relay sound
coming from the blower motor area? Before you do anything to the motor
itself, pull the wiring harness that leads into the motor and check for
voltage across the leads when the motor should be running. If the voltage
is there, then it's a motor problem. For a quick lube on the motor, pull
off the cooling hose that leads from the birdcage area of the blower to the
motor portion (it's a 4" 'L' shaped rubber hose) on the outside of the
white housing. When pulled off, you should be able to see the armature of
the motor inside. Spray some contact cleaner or some WD-40 while rotating
the blower by hand. Try running it and spraying a little as well. This
provided a temporary fix for me (few months), but eventually had to replace
the motor. When that time comes, you'll want to have some steak knives
handy.

Hope this helps,
Cliff

my '84 5000T heater blower motor is on the fritz...when i push the button
in
the climate control cluster i can hear a clicking of a relay, but sometimes
the blower wont come on till after a few seconds, or after i go over a
bump..sometimes it does come on, tho, right when i push the button... it
seems like the blower motor is going, but it hasnt gone yet..is there a way
to
lubricate it? or otherwise try to save it before it craps out alltogether?
 i
have a spare blower motor/htr core assembly from a '87 5000 but i dont have
a
