Custom EM for 10v Turbo.
Ok, I'm confused.
LEts see.
1) Stock 10v Turbo manifold Cracks and flows as well as
plugged cat.
2) 2-piece manifold is great. Doesn't crack, flows well, hard to find,
expensive new.
3) Dynalynx manifold is expensive, flows great, but WARPS??? Has this
problem been fixed yet.
4) Build my own. Looking at Taps new manifold for the A4 1.8t it cant be
to hard. Cut 3/4" SS plate to size and drill 5 holes. Weld on 5 pipes
bent to meet together at one point. Weld on the Turbo mounting flange
from either a 5kt manifold or make your own and attach it. Mount to car
and go. Am I missing something????? Seems way to easy. I MUST be
missing something. Why are these things $1,000 new? Also, if you built
your own you could theoretically use any turbo you wanted. Even one of
those new super efficient Ceramic ones.
Sorry, just Brain-Storming for my up and coming Turbo Conversion. On that
note,
Heck, Tap want $200 for a Cone Air filter. I have a cone K&N from
my old Racing Jet Ski that cost me $45. Hmmm, you could very easilly form
a fiberglass housing like the Tap one and use a cheap K&N cone to mount up
to it. Pretty easy.
Ok, sorry, just complaining about the market. WHeres Todd Candey
when you need him. I'm thinking if someone doesn't come out with this
stuff, then after I build my Strut Brace I might just take on one of these
projects.
Anyhow, I'm Bi#@hy tonight so I must need a beer. I better go get
one. L8R
