You describe the workings of my system except for the reverse part, 
there's a dog clutch that engages so reverse works.

Wouldn't it be GREAT! if this system just happens to match the Syncro in 
my Corrado. SPARE PARTS! Woohoo... Being manufactured by the same 
company does hold some promise for this to work out.
