Re: Ur-q Diff lock question
> Studip ? here. Are the diff locks on a '84 Ur-q phnumatic or electric. The
Vacuum operated (hint - pull lever is vacuum, switch is electronic).
You might have knocked off a vacuum line or put a hole in in (the
former is most likely). Or it could be coincidence and you are
having another problem.
Does your recirc flap close when you turn on the a/c switch? If
so, vacuum is coming into the car. Now, when you pull out the
diff lock lever and push back in, do you hear a hissing sound?
I would pull the diff lock panel and check the lines.
The center diff lock servo is located in the rear, right next to the
rear diff lock servo. It feeds the center diff lock through a long
flexible guaranteed-to-work-poorly-if-at-all cable arrangement. I
gave up trying to get mine to work reliably . . . it sometimes works,
it sometimes doesn't, it usually eventually more-or-less latches
(green light show!) if you pretend you don't care and ignore it.
If the rear diff lock engages promptly, this is almost certainly your
problem. (Or course, the servo diaphram may be ruptured or just leaky,
the vacuum line may have come loose, or be leaking, the actuating cable
may have come loose, . . . )
Typical.
