I have recently purchased a 1988 5KQ 5-speed in a very good condition.
Hi, Could anyone tell me what I should have looked after first in terms of maintenance and prevention? I had a 84 4Ks prior to this one and the cars seem different. I suspect that the timing belt, water pump, pulley, antifreeze flush, brake fluid flush, hydraulic fluid flush, and differential oil flush will top the list. Before I spend the big bucks on all of these I would like to prioritize them so that the expenses can be spread out. I have learned my lesson with the 4K that it is not worth it to economize on maintenance if you plan to keep the car for a while (I know, I know everybody say that). It is funny how that little extra effort and prevention now has a way of turning itself into many returns in the future.
Thanks
