A4 wet braking performance
There have been quite a lot of ambient conditions where the initial brake
pedal pressure required to stop/slow the car have been much greater than
usual, caused by wetness or frost on the front rotors. Some improvement to
wet braking (and dust) can be had by going with non-original pads, but at
the expense of noise (not always).
FWIW, Audi has issued a change in the A4 splash shields, and we are now
replacing the shields on older cars as they come in for routine service.
The change does not take place in production until week 3 or 4, so this
applies to_all_cars in existence today. There is a bulletin on the issue
but I cannot recall the details...
The new shield is bigger as you might have guessed.
