Karl,
I "think" the 92 100S has the same dash as my 89 100 - a digital clock in
the lower part of the tacho (European ones has a circular clock in the right
instrument cluster, think it replaces our oil temp meter).
Anyway, I have had the problem in not being able to adjust the clock several
times (and, right now). On my car you have to push and twist the dimmer for
the cluster. Twist left for hours, twist right for minutes. Every time this
has fouled, it has been a "displacement" of the "twisting rod". Only cure is
to take out the instrument cluster, remove the rear cover and loosen the
circuit board. Once there you will see it and fix it easily. A small pin on
the "twisting rod" that jumps outside of the small micro switches.
Now, yours being a '92 I take it there's a airbag. On my '89 (no airbag, so
there might be differences in the distance between dash and back of steering
wheel), I have NEVER had to remove the steering wheel and has always easily
(after first try of course) been able to pull the entire cluster. Takes
maximum 5 minutes.
Two screws secures the plastic cover over the steering column. Three shorts
screws secures the trim list at the bottom of the cluster. Once that one is
removed, three screws holds the cluster. Pull the cluster straight out. Fold
it over so you can reach and disconnect the cable connectors (secured with
clips). The "just" move it out and up. Hard first time, very easy later.
