A4 1.8 Questions...

Hi!

My father has decided (almost) that he and my mom need to own his and her's
quattros.  He has been looking at the A4 1.8. While having a very brief
conversation he asked me to relay these questions...I honestly don't know
if they pertain to quattro's, non-quattro's or both.  I realize there is a
serious lack of information, but ask me questions and I will get more
information.  He asks:

Is it common for the 1.8 to rumble at about 2500 RPM?

Is it common (or what could it be) if 'something' in the drivetrain makes a
noise at 60MPH.


I apologize if these questions seem out to lunch...I live 18 hours away and
I'm trying to remember a conversation we had when he called me on my
business phone...I happened to be halfway down the ski hill at the time!
