If you have the cash and intend to keep the car more than a year or
25k miles, I'd say it's a close call.

An exchange head replaces every moving part above the head gasket - if
you count up the individual parts, it's a hell of a deal.

But a cam from a scrapyard would be a much more economical fix on a
beater or an end-of-life car.
