Re: Space saver spare tires are a joke
Henry,
Yes, although it looks like they both have the same plastic lower piece
which holds the spare, the Avant has about 3 or more inches of height under
the rear floor where the spare sits. I checked yesterday and a 15x7.5 w/
215/60 michlen pilot (from a 91 200q) fits in an older 5000 fine, DIAMETER
wise. However, It sticks up the floor a good three inches by the trunk
latch. Alternate floor cover or not, would it have hurt the car's design to
make that lower plastic bit a little lower at the rear ?

Does the 91

looks too shallow to hold a 15x7.5 rim under the supplied wood cover. And I
would have to move an amp anyway, but that's why I carry that particular
screwdriver in the car at all times.

storage area than the sedan? I had a 5k avant loaner once, but forgot to
check the spare.
