RE: Source for Carbon Fibre?
As I know that you are "local" NorCal Mark,
I recommend trying the following in order of ease.
1) Any marina store near you (Bezerkely). West Marine Products?
2) Local surfboard / sailboard shaper. Advanced Surf Design. (Meritex, see
below)
3) Fibreglass Santa Cruz (Retail). You'll have to call 411 for the phone
number, but I'm certain that they sell carbon. In varying weights.
4) Clark Fibreglass (Wholesale). (Foam Blanks) Santa Cruz. Surfers will
recognize the name as the major provider for foam "cores." They also sell
glass, etc.
Ahhh. I rememeber a good one for you. There's a strange place fairly close
to the Oakland Colisseum called Meritex. They used to sell DIY kits for
surfboards and sailboards. Of course, you could purchase sheets of
fibreglass, etc from them as well.
As I'm sure you realize, the difficultly may be in the 4x4' request, as many
of these materials are narrower in width. BUT, these should be some good
leads.
