If you're asking about 'summer' tires, I really like the Toyo Proxes
T1s. I have 17" wheels, I expect 16" is available.
A pal has Yokohama A520- he drove the crap out of his car on track and
the tires looked brand new. The dunlop sport 8k's were coming apart on
DonP's car. 
The A520 is a good 16" choice.

The 97 faux sport:
Sport seats
Sport leather steering wheel (The reason I got the package!)
16" upgrade with the 5 spoke wheels

The 98+ sport models are uprated suspensions, uprated tires w/ 7 spoke
wheels and the sport wheel. I'm not 100%, but I think the seats were a
separate option.

If you want to lower the car for looks, you can fork out $$ for
springs, or you can upgrade the wheels to 17", get good rubber and
possibly a front anti-rollbar. (no rear, not yet).
