RE: Lifters??
As far as I understand it is normal for the lifters to be noisy upon first
starting up in the morning due to the fact that they are hydraulic and use
the oil to actuate (they need time fill up with the oil). I believe also
that after "spirited" driving they will tap some although I don't have a
good explanation for this - anyone else? I have not heard of any damage
occurring due to tapping but that is obviously just personal experience.
Another device that causes some "tapping" is the vacuum pump bolted to the
side of the head. I believe I saw a post some time ago detailing a cleaning
procedure for this.
