Going to Amsoil

Dicided to use Amsoil on my 87 5000 Q.
What weight would you recomend, thinking of the 2000 series 20/50 weight.
My Audi does consume oil more than I want.
Will the Amsoil help or make this oil consumption worse?
Using Castrol petrolum at present.
Need coments from BTDT.
