FS: '84 Ur-Q in Phoenix, Arizona ... more info.

I spoke with John, who said the car was owned by his late-father (Larry Tree)
and he's selling it for his mother, who rarely ever drives it these days.

He said his father bought the car in Colorado about seven years ago from
somebody named John Condes, who was an airline pilot and the original owner.
He said his father was a collector and had somewhat of a "thing" for Audis, of
which owned several. He also said his father had the car restored about five
years ago -- paint, motor, interior, etc. -- but was not sure who did the
work. After that was completed, he said it spent most of the last four years
in a climate-controlled storage room and was only driven occasionally.

After his father died, they brought the car to Arizona and it's spent most of
its time since then in storage ... incredibly, it's being stored in the same
facility that I used to store my '85 -- what do you suppose the odds are? --
but neither of us ever saw each other's cars. (This also means the car is
located only about three miles from my house if anyone wants me to check it
out for them.)

He said to the best of his knowledge, the car is stock -- he said his father
was a fanatic about keeping his cars original -- but he also added that it has
a built-in radar detector and he thinks the original owner may have installed
an aftermarket stereo as well but he's not sure. He isn't sure about the
mileage on it, either -- it's either 90k or 114k -- and he does not recall if
it has a sunroof or not (he thinks it does). When I asked about service
records, he pulled the file for the car and said they go all the way back to
'84 but he's not sure if every receipt and invoice is there.

All in all, he seemed like a straightforward guy and seems to know a little
bit about these cars but definitely isn't an Ur-Q enthusiast. Price-wise, he
said he thought the car was right on the money and I didn't get a feeling one
way or the other about how firm the asking price of $10k is ... as usual, I
suspect cash talks. He did say he's going out of town Sunday, so if you're
interested in the car, he recommended that you call him before then.

HTH...
