Your description sounds like normal play. I get an occaisional "clunk"
from the drivetrain on my '91 200q when I let out the clutch - it is very
infrequent, perhaps two or three times a year. I have noticed similar play
in the wheel if one is jacked up. Other listers have mentioned this in past
postings, so I don't think you are seeing anything abnormal.
