The only experience I've had is with a 1990 old shape 2 dr 8v. IMO 
the best look saab. Seemed very different:
much heavier - doors weighed a ton and felt safer than audis - but 
probably weren't.
felt like the mpg was very poor
interior room didn't feel as good as auidis but driving position and 
seat great.
rust proof body not as good as audi (on old saab)


the manual gearbox was absolutely disgusting, incredibably notchy 
with a strange pattern. audis manual much, mcuh better. My brother 
tried a quick change from 1st to 2nd, heard a crunch and then could 
only select 3rd upwards. Saab gave a bill for 800 gbp for rebuilt 
casing. Said it was very rare but I'm not too sure. Family sold the 
car and been driving audis ever since with absolutly no comparable 
problems.

The 9000 did have apparently better boxs and the same is said for the 
newer 900's perhaps because of the different engine alignment? and 
gm's involvement. still imo audi's r better if not quite as stylish 
as saabs.
