My thoughts are rather that both of my I5 engines are old - one 13 years,
one 11, and combustion products getting into the oil is probably the
greatest single effect I have.  I use VAG's synthetic (Synta Gold) in
the ur-quattro, and their blend (Synta) in the Passat.
