4kq Problems Solved (Update)

Ok,
I think everyone on the list wants people to start posting their
solutions to problems when they finallyget them fixed to here goes.

1) Speedo Cable was making noise. Little Plastic part was broken that
holds it into speedo back. Replaced cable with a new unit (I assume these
come pre lubricated as it felt like it to me). Anyhow, replaced cable but
still a noisy speedo but WORSE. Hmm, changed speedo's and no it is
silent.....I had to remove speedo from another pod to do this as the other
pod had a trip computer and I dont. Part of this required changing the
electrical connector on the back of the speedo to work with the new
unit. Not suprisingly both speedos had non working ODO's so I fixed it on
the one I put in. Oddly, the sprocket had not come off the shaft but the
entire shaft had moved out of its hole at the other side of the housing.
I pulled OXS Light counter wheel off when I did this and didn't
replace it. Stupid me though I forgot to rig the switch to leave light
off so my OXS light is on now. Oops. Time to take it apart again.

2) Replaced trunk strut. Helps if you have a second person to hold up
trunk for you while you put new one on. Small flathead screwdriver makes
job easy to.

3) REplaced defectove temp sensor at base of Radiator. I posed to list
with a problem a few weeks ago stating thay my Radiator Fan was ALWAYS on.
Even in the morning at 10 degrees temp. This fixed the problem.

4) found problem in rear door. Door wouldn't unlock or lock a while ago.
Took off panel and the actuator arm at front of door behind vacuum servo
was disconnected. I put it back in hole. It worked for one day. Now its
popped out again. Went to junk yard and pulled panel off a car. It had a
little plastic retaining arm on that rocker to hold shaft in there. Guess
what I need. That little rocker arm which I promply bought. Now I have
to put it in.

5) Put synthetic oil (Mobil 1) in Girlfriends 160,000 mile 4kq. Runs
better, eats oil much faster now. Guess the Valve Stem SEals decided to
leak or something.
