Instrument Panel Warning Lights

Hi,

1. According to the owner's manual, all the warning lights should come on when the ignition is turned on. Well, in my newly-purchased 88 5KQ (non-t), the warning light for the brake (bulb is O.K., its turns on when the p. brake is pulled), alternator, and oxygen sensor do not come on when the ignition is turned on. My question is whether they should go on, if so, what might be the reason of them not coming on.

2. Similarly, my owner's manual indicates that I should be able to check each warning light of the AUTO CHECK system by pressing on the knob below the tachometer. Well, I press and nothing happens. Is a bad switch?

3. When I switch on the ignition, I hear three chimes and the low engine oil pressure indicator of the AUTO CHECK lights up. According to the manual, this indicates a major fault and I should not drive the car at all. The oil level is fine and the light goes out once I start the engine. Any suggestions?

Thanks
