urq overboost cutout...PT problem?

My urquattro is having problems with the ECU shutting down the fuel
pump at my current max level of boost pressure (~13 psi). What
confuses me, however, is that I remapped the overboost cutout table
(many thanks to RDH for his help) to ~15-16psi (0xFE in the code).

I can only think of a few causes to this problem: (1) the VDO boost
gauge I have in the car is off by 2-3psi and I really am running
15 to 16 psi of boost, (2) the pressure transducer is grossly
inaccurate or is failing, or (3) something else is wrong that I don't
know about.

Has anyone run into this kind of problem, or have edjumacated guesses
about what might be the cause?

Is the pressure transducer prone to failure or improper range (i.e.
due to production tolerances)? Can it be easily replaced, or should
I just kludge it with the resistor-divider method?

Thanks,
Eric
