RE: rare urq pix (Audi Quartz)
the description in the book:
"with the audi quartz, a 2+2 coupe based on the
4-wheel drive audi quattro, pininfarina not only
wanted to prove that a car can be streamlined while
having a character of its own, but above all that the
use of new lightweight materials derived from space
research meant new body designs. he says that you
cannot just replace heavy materials with light ones,
because the properties of modern materials like
kevlar, honeycomb or carbon fiber, or metal and
plastic laminates are far too complex. a whole new
rethink is needed in terms of technique and style to
find innovative solutions: one component is enough
where five were needed previously."
concept car seems pretty likely though; a close
look shows a pretty flat trunk space with no rear
seat wall, and certainly no room for more than
an 8 gallon gas tank under that carpet.
pretty, though.

]The Audi Quartz was Audi's concept car in '79 or '80 car shows from what I
]have heard. It was basically a show car that was a hint of things to come
]from Audi. I believe the show car boasted all wheel drive and a turbo motor.
]Of course, it was never produced, but led to The Quattro that came out a year
]or two later.
