Audifest '99
OK guys, lets be serious here. In my opinion, having multiple "Audifest
99's" would be a mistake. One of the biggest draws for even attending is
being able to get together with all of the really die hard q-listers and
meeting everyone from around the country. If we were to split it up,
this would disappear and would cause the event to be less interesting to
me.
I have done the Pikes Peak trip 2 times now, from San Francisco to
Colorado Springs. Its about 1300 miles or so, well, from boston its
about 1900 miles. That's an extra day's drive, big deal. Pikes Peak in
my opinion is the way to go. It occurs on a holiday weekend, it is
somewhat centrally located, it has alot of audi history in it, and it is
an incredible race to be seen.
In addition to the mountain, there is the track event that would be held
at Pueblo Motorsports Park, which was a complete blast. Everyone gets to
have rides or even drives in everyone else's car, and there is some
friendly competition going on.
Honestly, for me, the drive to CO is one of the highlights of my year.
Its a beautiful drive, a fun drive, and honestly, its not all that long.
It takes me 2 days, and it would take 3 for the rest of the country,
depending on how fast they wanted to go...
For those of you who have never been, take my word on this: It is
100000% worth going. For those of you who have been and dont want to go
again, come on, you must have forgotten how much fun it was.
And honestly, if you cant drive, then just fly, some people did that, and
we didnt look down on them :o)
Pikes peak is the way to go, hands down. Im goign to the Historics no
matter what as its only about 90 miles from my house, but that isnt a
fair place to hold Audifest. Yeah, everyone who can possibly go, should
go, BUT for those of you who cant get over here, pikes peak is a pretty
close second.....
So, my vote is for Pikes Peak, no question.
later...
