Re: A4 brake problem in the rain
>Does anyone know if New Jersey uses magnesium chloride road salt?
They started using that in Boise a few years ago. If it hasn't rained in a
few days and the road looks wet, that's probably MgCl. If you have tiny
(0.5 mm) black spots on all front surfaces of the car after driving on that
"dry" road, that's probably MgCl. It's slippery stuff.
A guy a work was paralyzed (neck down) a few months back. He started to
slide on a MgCl-treated bridge and got sideways while proceeding down the
roadway (normal travel direction, just sideways) and off the bridge. He hit
the "plain" pavement and rolled his truck a few times. Ironically, the
weather was about 40 dF (4 dC), so the ice/frost didn't hurt him--the
"safety" treatment did.
