The Audi pecking order...

This evening, I had a drink with a friend after work. Last month, while on a
business trip to San Diego, he bought a mint condition '91 BMW M5 that he
stumbled upon in a grocery store parking lot. It replaces the '94 M3 that was
stolen from him earlier this year while he was on a business trip to Los
Angeles (he's a sales rep and drives quite a bit since he has to cover all of
Arizona as well as most of Southern California).

Anyway, during our conversation, he remarked that the M5, despite being a
faster, more costly and much more rare car than his previous M3, doesn't seem
to attract anywhere near as much attention, even from BMW enthusiasts who know
all about the car. One thing lead to another and pretty soon, we were talking
about the perceived pecking order of cars, including Audis.

I'm curious as to how other Audi enthusiasts rate Audi's cars of the past two
decades. Which one has the most "street cred," as they say in the UK's Max
Power magazine? I've drawn up my list and would be interested to see what
others come up with ... I'll give you a hint about my list: The very last car
on it is the 4000 diesel, which barely lost to the 4000 turbo diesel.
