RE: So... my Audi just went dead...

If anyone remembers this thread, I'd like to tell you what happened.

A couple of weeks ago my Audi 100cc just went dead. After some diagnosis I
realized it was a fuel problem, and I learned something about the fuel
system when troubleshooting. When I was almost certain that it was the fuel
pump that had ceased to function properly, I towed the car to a workshop.
When it is -18 degrees C (approx 0 deg F) outside and snowing it isn´t fun
to work with cars. The mechanic measured the pump flow and pressure, and the
pump was bad.

Lessons:
1. When you check prices the Bosch retailer is a lot cheaper than the
dealer.
2. When the mechanic shall replace the pump he may found out the the new
pump he ordered from the Bosch retailer is the wrong size.
3. The right pump can be a Bosch OEM but the Bosch retailer may not be
allowed
to sell it. (Dealer price >> Bosch price !!!)
4. A mechanic at a workshop can get ill and you have to wait more than
a week for the car to be fixed.

Pump: $280
Labour: $80
-----------
Total: $360

Anyway, now the car works fine, and also the stumbling that occured at low
rpm:s has disappeared.

Thanks for all suggestions I got when I was troubleshooting.
