Out of synch, perhaps? This happens when you press the button too many
times without activating the locks.

Try locking the car with the key, unlock it, point and press the infrared,
and it should now work. The whole thing should be described in the owner's
manual.

  found out that the transmitter is working because it does flash the
  infared
