RE: V8q rear rotors

The '91 200Q avant also uses those 269mm vented rotors. The Parts
Connection sells new Zimmermans for $40. or so a pop.

Regarding dealer prices on the UFOs, the dealers around here are still
charging $639. each for new ones. Audi remanufactured ones are $300 or less
from the dealer. The trouble with the remanufactured units is that there's
a fair amount of meat taken off, so the life expectancy of the rotors with
the part # ending in X (as in rebuilt) is a lot shorter. I suppose if they
mostly warp anyway, it doesn't matter. I had a pair of remanufactured UFOs
on my car with about 40k of reasonable driving (two middle aged owners of
the car before me, and everything else indicates a relatively light touch).
They weren't warped, but I decided to put S4 front struts and brakes on it
anyway. I listed them for sale on the list, and Wolff and others emailed me
to enquire about their thickness, which I hadn't checked. Turned out that
one was .005" over the wear limit, and the other was about .002" away from
the limit. They were good for doorstops, I suppose. At least it eliminated
any remorse about the cost involved and the need for making the switch.
