Re: '93 90CSQ Wheel bearing replacement...

Rob,

My experience with wheel bearings has not included whobble? Generally
speaking, when a wheel bearing starts to go you will get a vibration in the
steering wheel and/or an audible hum heard in the cabin when you drive.
Depending on the bearing wear, the noise may worsen or diminish if you go into a
left or right turn while driving. Another consideration is that bearings on the
driver and passenger side usually do not "expire" at the same time. Usually
only one will go. The other side may soon follow but usually they don't go
together. (Have we forded any deep water lately with the quattro?) Have you
considered the possibility of something else? Perhaps square tires, unbalanced
wheel/wheels. Loose front end/bushings etc. You mentioned it was a '93, how
many miles are on the car? Additional info may help clue the list into what
else it could be. Just some ideas here. Good luck.

Regards

Mark
