Huw- I have only had one problem with the power windows on my V8. It was not
the switches or the cable, it was a dirty commutator on the motor. It was a
major PIA to remove the motor, but easy to clean. BTW, it was the front
passenger side, and I often wondered if my wifes habit of holding the swith
depressed after the window reached its fully closed/open position was the
cause. I do not recall seeing any clutch mechanism but really wasn't looking
for one either. Do you supposed they meant for the motor to be stalled during
the time out?? Naaah, not our Audi engineers!
