Just for nostalgia's sake... on my '83 5kt, the EM stud at the front
eventually broke off, and since the head would have to come off to tap
it and helicoil it etc (forget it!) I went out and bought a nice $10
Sanvik C-clamp and put it right over the cam cover. Tightened it down
the right amount (til annoying noise went away), then drilled a hole
through the threaded shaft and socket to put a pin in to keep it from
loosening, and then cut off the handle so I could close the hood.
Sold the car that way, too... for $900 in small grubby bills, some old
car radio, and an offer of "some of this stuff (vegetable matter in
baggie)".
