Most parts (except front end parts) are readily available.  I have a
mechanic literally 1/4 of a mile from me that Shane called regarding his V8
5sp tranny.  He can fix it no problem.

Agree here totally.  If you drive a V8 and think it is too slow, that is
generally as good as it gets.  However, a V8 5sp is a pretty fast car.  I
think Steve Buchholz with a Gtech reported 0-60mph in 6.6 secs.  That is
pretty fast for 4,000lbish car (how much does a V8 weigh??).

I disagree.  Read above, and, the V8 auto is only slow off the line.  After
like 30 mph, it has nice performance.  Not insane, but the kind of hp you'd
expect from a 250hp 4 valve motor V8.  Add in quattro and the auto, and it
is a real nice cruiser.  I can't figure out why so many people bag the V8.
I drove one and still want one.
