rest assured that when I finally get it worked out I will relate the
experience in detail.  One thing I'm sure is required is an appraisal,
you can't just pick a number.

A friend did it with his 60-something Valiant, which appraised at $7k. 
But *they* are collectible...

I just wanna be able to get an 85-87 into the shape mine is in if some
idiot totals my car.  Which has a "book value" of around 50 cents, I'm
sure.
