RE: Unintended acceleration on Dateline last night.
I read an editorial a year or two ago about the UA investigations in the
80's and cam across a real interesting side-note that I'd never heard prior.
At the same time that the UA investigation was launched against Audi,
similar and claims were filed by owners of GM vehicles. In fact, MORE
incidents involving GM vehicles were filed during the same period than
against Audi. I don't want to come off as a conspiracy nut here, but GM did
an amazing bit of spin control - I didn't hear a thing about UA outside the
context of Audi. Makes you wonder who in Detroit might have pulled stings
or diverted attention 15 years ago. Given that media moguls and domestic
car manufacturers are amongst the most powerful businesses in the world. . .

Subject: Uninteneded acceleration on Dateline last night.
A friend just sent this email to me that I've posted below, it seems
Unintended Acceleration has reared it's ugly head again.....at the worst
possible time for Audi now that they have finally recovered from it. It
wasn't about Audi, but mentioned Audi. I now dedicate my life to hating
journalists.

I am filled with so much rage whenever UA pops up in the news....to this day
I
still can't believe what lies these journalist broadcast in the name of
ratings; they will change stories, modify Audi throttles, blow up ford
trucks,
and sensationalize crying victims.
I must calm down now......You know, I have never even seen the 60 minutes
show
on Audi. I've got stacks of articles and investigation reports, but I still
haven't seen the original show of lies that started it all.
