boost controllers?
Hello all,
What is the collective wisdom regarding electronic boost controllers? A
decidedly Japanese Turbo car kind of a thing, I know, but what the hell.
I am taking a look at The HK EVC EZ and EVC IV (check them out at
www.hkusa.com under the EVC section, note however that the EVC IV atm
doesn't exist so disregard the specs that pertain to it). Does anyone have
btdt with these or similar units as they pertain to the Motronic I-5 turbos?
Specifically S4?
I am looking at upgrading the IC system on my S4 and would like to turn down
the 30 psig of boost I get with a controller of this type.
My reading and discussion with tech support at HKS hasn't satisfied me 100%
that all of the factory safeguards will stay in place. Fuel pump shutoff,
etc. Can anyone advise?
Does anyone know the best vendor for these? Is anyone interested in a group
purchase? They list for $599.00 and I've asked a local CO vendor to discount
to $535.00 for six units.
On a somewhat related note I have been unsuccessful trying to source RS2
injectors (or the Carrera RS version for that matter) can anyone help me out
here? Where can I find these in the states? I check part #s with Audi,
Porsche and Bosch and they all say they are bad US part #s?
When I do get them I have been warned of running rich at low RPMs. Won't the
system sense this and compensate by reducing the injector duty cycle a
commensurate amount?
Thanks,
Frank--
