BR Motorsport auxiliary harness
A note for anyone using one:
BT Motorsport recommend a maximum of 80/100 H4s. As many know, I run
100/170s. I've discussed this with BR Motorsport, and we agree the
harness isn't really adequate for this.
However - as supplied, it's incorrectly fused. It uses three relays,
one to switch both H4 low beams, one for the left H4 main and H1, and
one for the right H4 main and H1. It's fused at 20 amps - but the
fuse holders used are only rated at 15 amps.
If you exceed the 15 amp rating for the fuse holder, but not the 20
amp rating for the fuse, the fuseholder becomes exceeding hot and
melts. Reducing the fuse rating below the rating for the fuseholder
would seem a sensible idea. If you want to run more wattage, the
fuseholder has to be replaced.
