Re: Fogged In
This is usually caused by one of two things:
- Recirculation door stuck to recirculate, instead of allowing fresh air
in
- Leaky heater core causing coolant to be spread around the car
You can check the recirc door pretty easily (at least on other type
44's). It's behind the glove box and can be viewed from below the glove
box. If it's like the 5k digital control, it should be closed (set to
fresh) always except when the climate control is turned off or trying to
really cool things down.
There's a spring that pulls the recirc door shut and a vacuum piston
that pulls the fresh air door open. (The two doors are connected with a
bracket.) So if your recirc door is always open, it's likely that the
spring has broken or become disconnected. Just take a look. While you're
there, see if the vacuum piston is still connected the fresh door and to
the plastic bracket. At least on 5k's, this bracket is flimsy and is
usually broken. There's a fix for that too, but I would hope the V8
doesn't have that same lousy design.
