This is just a vent.  Why is it people think they can just hack open the
harness, cut and TWIST some wires together, stick a little bandaid of
electrical tape on it, and then NOT have anything happen to it for the rest of
its life.  I tore out this alarm system the PO had "professionally" installed.
What a joke!  When I purchased car had all kinds of electrical problems,
including quick kill of battery.  This alarm had about a half dozen shorts,
including main power to ign. switch shorting to dash frame.  Tore all this
trash out day one and threw it in driveway.  Bare butt connectors, solder.
shrink sleeves, no more shorts!  I learned this the hard way from our plow
trucks in the 80's.  Take a look at a brand new wire harness for a snowplow
after one winter, and you'll see what I learned.
