Common problem. Bitch to fix. Ideal tool (IMNSHO) is a 17mm Stahlwille
3/8" drive 12-point Crowfoot flare socket on a 15" extension.
IMO you need a slim socket - the rather bulky 6-point ones are too big,
and you need a 12-point because even with a specialist rig like this
there is very little room for movement. Snap-On illustrate _exactly_
the right sort of thing (e.g., AN8508-14A) but don't seem to do metric
sizes.
If you go for the Stahlwille socket - be warned that it's not cheap.
About $50 (for a socket!) in the UK. My wife has larger and less
expensive jewellery.
