Re: Subject: Resetting fault code memory- 93 S4
Chris & list- some more detail on what I've tried so far:
The owner's manual is the first thing I checked- it doesn't even mention
anything outside of the under hood relay box (Aux Relay Panel I) and the
driver's side fuse panel.
Likewise, although the Bentley's schematic shows and lists fuse 26 as
powering pin 18 of the ECM in the wiring diagram (as a Magnetic Control
Fuse, whatever that means) the wiring diagram gives no indication of where
the fuse actually resides. The Bentley's drawings of all major panels,
specifically:
1) The fuse panel (driver's side of dash)
2) Central Electric Panel
3) Aux Relay Panels I-III
4) Connector Stations 1-3
5) Electronic Box (ECM mount)
are all very detailed, and specify every installed component in each
location, but none of them list the "mystery" fuse 26. As far as I can
tell, it's like the in-line fuse for the factory phone- the schematic
clearly calls out fuse 51, but there's nothing I've been able to find in
the Bentley that tells you where fuse 51 is physically located.
So, my working assumption at this point is that it's an in-line fuse
somewhere, possibly in the wiring local to the ECM, but I'm hoping someone
else has already found it. I agree another alternative is to remove power
completely, but I don't have the radio code so I'd rather avoid that if
possible. If no one knows where it lives, I'll most likely pay someone to
clear it "properly" with the 1551 tool.
