Brake Master Cyl Dimensions

Wondering if anyone has replaced the brake mc (87 5k cstq) and noticed the
following, regarding the replacement unit.

I've obtained a rebuild from a local (and trustworthy) parts place, but have a
concern before pulling the old one out. The new cylindrical unit appears
identical, except the external diameter is about 1/8 inch (3-4mm) smaller than
the existing one.

Perhaps newer replacements are smaller that my original 12 year old part?
Anyone think I should be concerned?
