Re: 95 Cabriolet power window problem- resolved!

Sorry for the WOB- I'm not sure how this got resent to the list-

Anyway, here's the resolution for the archives.

Symptoms: The power windows went intermittent for a couple days- shutting
off the car and restarting would help at first, but over 2-3 days the
driver's window stopped operating completely, and the other 3 would work
off the "all-window" switch in the center console (this is a Cabriolet-only
feature) but not from the driver's door switch panel. The key symptom seems
to be all windows suddenly malfunctioning.

After the original posting, I heard from a couple listers who had similar
problems (thanks Jim and Shachar). Sachar fixed his, but I caved (no
Bentley available yet for the 93-up 90's) and ordered the new module from
Linda @ Carlsen- p/n 8G0 959 257 (Siemens p/n 79FA405). $200 with shipping.
Ouch. It's worth noting that Linda says she "never" sells them, so this is
hopefully a relatively rare malfunction. On the 90's, the module goes in
the aux relay panel under the left (driver's in the US) side of the dash.
Pull old, plug in the new module, problem solved. Examining the old module
doesn't reveal any obvious "smoke releasing" problems. If anyone wants to
perform an autopsy, you're welcome to it.
